Who doesn’t enjoy a good prank? It gets tricky though when you add a puppy, a little girl’s heart, and let the whole internet watch everything as it happens.

The internet is currently decrying that YouTube vloggers, Cole and Savannah Labrant took it too far with this year’s April Fools’ prank. The couple and their family has a total of 27 million followers across all social media platforms – YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. This includes the 759,000 Instagram followers of their daughter’s puppy, Carl. In their latest April Fools’ video, they pranked their daughter by telling her that they have to give Carl away.
All was well and good in the said video, but it gets awry and twisted seven-minutes in when you see their daughter crying and hugging Carl as they just told her that they have to give him away for he they don’t get to take care of him and that he pees a lot. They also mentioned how they have a big gated backyard with wide opening and that they’re afraid that Carl could get lost, get through the ridges and escape. All these reasons fully convinced their daughter that Carl indeed needs to be given to a new home. The last painful act was making their daughter decide on who to give Carl away to. It was only after that question that they told the kid that it was just a prank.
At the end of the video, the mother stressed that it was just a prank and that her daughter is completely okay. She detailed that she just cried for two minutes and that she was back to being happiest kid right after.
Followers and viewers took to their social media platforms and commented at how mean and abusive the act was. The overwhelming reaction is that they kept the prank going on for far too long and that they should have stopped once they saw that their daughter was visibly upset.
The said video is still available online and it now has more than 2.2 million views. The couple disabled the video’s comment section.
If anything, this served as clear proof that people should never mess with the bond between puppies and little girls. It’s precious and wholesome and it should never be abused and exploited. The internet knows and the internet will not take things sitting down. Let it all be a lesson for all.
