Bath time for dogs can be pretty tricky. Some dogs enjoy their owners bathing them; some don’t. Some have to be taken to the groomers and some just put up a big fight. Franklin is an eleven-month-old Golden Retriever who doesn’t enjoy a traditional dog bath.
The Golden Retriever’s owner, Anam Rahman, is a busy lawyer in Washington, D.C. She says her puppy loves going to the park with her, and of course, loves to get dirty. The park by their D.C. home is covered with mulch, and after a good rain, Franklin is pretty filthy from rolling around for an hour.
Bath time has always been a bit of struggle for Anam and Franklin. Golden Retrievers love the water and are usually very easy to bathe. This wasn’t always the case with Franklin, until one day, Rahman had to use the kitchen sink.
Anam was running late to work one morning and didn’t have time to properly bathe her Golden. He was pretty dirty, so she needed to come up with an effective compromise. She decided to try the kitchen sink, and to her surprise, Franklin absolutely dug it!
Rahman says it’s a great solution when you’re in a hurry. She was able to clean the Retriever’s paws and underbelly thoroughly. She didn’t have to give his back a wash; it was mostly the underneath of him that was dirty. The sink was perfect, and she was able to get to work on time.
Franklin enjoyed his kitchen sink bath so much, he insists on always having his baths there now! The now sixty-six-pound puppy is a bit too big for the sink, but Anam puts him in it anyways. What a funny sight. The sink is like Doctor Who’s Tardis, definitely bigger on the inside. Some people commented after seeing the picture of the larger Franklin in the sink that it must be photoshopped. But Anam guarantees it’s a real photograph.
Happy bathing Franklin!
