This story is so full of love and precious innocence, it will melt your heart. Meet Darius Brown, a 12-year-old boy from Newark, New Jersey who is changing the world one bow tie at a time through his precious work with dogs and bow ties.
There are two things that Darius Brown loves, dogs and bow ties. What he did is to combine both and he’s been very busy and happy ever since.
At a very young age, Darius Brown put his talent into good use when he created Beaux and Paws, an organization dedicated to donating bow ties to shelter animals who are looking to be adopted.
All these started when Darius was just two years old and was diagnosed of having comprehension delay, fine motor skills delay, and speech delay. Understanding the situation, his family encouraged creativity to fuel his development and enjoyment of discovering things. With this came their discovery that dogs and fashion have a special place in his heart.
When he was eight years old, he learned how to make bow ties while helping her sister finish a school project. Knowing that his delayed fine motor skills prevented him from fully utilizing his hands, his family realized that having him help in tiny tasks, like cutting fabrics for ribbons, will help in his development. And they were spot on as it definitely did.
After some time, Darius learned to make his very own bow ties and started wearing one every day. He got so good at it that strangers would ask where he bought it, only to find out that it was the kid himself who made it.
Knowing at a young age that dogs don’t get adopted and end up being euthanized in shelters, he figured that giving bow ties will improve their chances. It adds to their look and spiffy their vibe!
It was then that he started making bow ties for dogs. Since then, he has been donating bow ties to shelters across the country. His next quest is to donate bow ties to shelters across the globe.
Bless this kid’s heart and all the dogs that he’s been helping to find forever homes!
