This is a developing story of hope and love. As we all know, Australia is currently experiencing a catastrophic level of seasonal bushfires. So much so that as of press time, the recorded affected area is as big as the country of Denmark.
Amidst the tragedy, love shines through in the heart of Brett Hadden who is risking his life and safety in order to be there for his 60 huskies in Omeo.
Hadden and his 60 sled huskies are originally from Cobungra. Due to the bush fires, they have evacuated over the weekend to Omeo. Though relatively safe, the area is still considered a fire zone and people are continuously being evacuated from there via helicopter.
Brett Hadden has already been invited to ride the helicopter to safe ground but he refuses to leave his 60 huskies behind. He wanted to move for safety but upon knowing that the helicopters can only transfer humans, he made the brave and loving choice to be left behind.
In an interview, he shared how he would love to evacuate but he just can’t leave his animals behind as they are far too many. Hadden’s 60 huskies are sled dogs that work at the alpine region. Hadden has been working with them for years.
In Omeo, 50 residents have already been transported to safety. Brett and his 60 dogs together with 300 residents who chose to stay in the fire zone are the only ones left in the area.
Brett is hopeful as he shares that he knows that the dogs know what’s happening. He knows that they’re future is in danger but he knows too for a fact that as long as he is around for his huskies, they will be okay.
We salute Brett Hadden and his love for his dogs. As reports of rains in Australia are coming in, this is to hoping that more rains come to aid Brett Hadden and his 60 huskies.
