Having to live with a disability is not as simple as some people may think.
For a dog, it’s even harder. Especially if you are trying to find a forever home who will accept you for who you are.
Bandit is one such dog. He is paraplegic, which means the lower part of his body is paralyzed, and as such, he needs a “wheelchair” to get around.
Despite his disability, Bandit is a lovable dog. Like most dogs, he is energetic and playful. However, taking care of a disabled dog can sometimes be challenging.
As a result, Bandit has been returned to the shelter on four different occasions, which is heartbreaking for the shelter staff who had their hopes up for Bandit.
To prepare him for his forever home, Bandit was part of the Gwinnett County Jail Dogs program, where inmates train dogs to prepare them for their new home.
5th time’s a charm. The shelter has recently found a new owner who is willing to take in the adorable disabled pup.
Like Bandit, Daryl, Bandit’s new owner, is just like him.
Daryl is also paralyzed from the waist down, and he is forced to use a wheelchair in order to get around.
Daryl and his wife, Sue, fell in love with Bandit when they met him. They knew that Bandit would fit in perfectly with their family. After all, who would understand a disabled dog better than a disabled owner?
According to Daryl, what he had to go through in life was not easy because of his disability. You just gotta continue to move forward, he mentioned.
When he saw the videos of Bandit, he knew that he had the same mindset as him and that they’ll get along pretty well.
Daryl and his wife are planning to create a Facebook page for Bandit so that fans and followers can stay updated with Bandit’s life and adventures with his new family.
