They say that a dog is a man’s best friend. But in some cases, dogs aren’t just man’s best friend, they are a best friend to other animals too. True enough, dogs are one of the friendliest and most genuine animals that exist.
A 10-year old Labrador named Fred has been found taking care of 9 ducklings which were abandoned by their mom for more than a week already. Fred is living at Mountfitchet Castle in England.
In a photograph, the 9 ducklings are happily nestling at the back of Fred. Fred and the ducklings seem to be having a good time as they stroll around the castle, a local tourist attraction.
Aside from staying on Fred’s back, the ducklings are also enjoying Fred’s company as they play around with him. Fred and the ducklings appear to be very comfortable in each other’s company.
The story of Fred has gone viral on Facebook as it has been uploaded on Facebook by the staffs of the castle. They stated in the post that The ducklings’ mum had disappeared and a member of staff found them waddling around the castle grounds alone. In the beginning, the team was very worried about the ducklings but Fred, a 10-year-old Labrador, immediately took to them and has been babysitting ever since.
In the latest report, the ducklings are spending their nights at Fred’s dog basket. Aside from staying at Fred’s dog basket, they also went for a swim with Fred at the castle moat.
Indeed, you don’t have to be rich to help others. Fred just proved that being helpful isn’t only applicable to humans, but is applicable to animals too. Fred showed that helping others isn’t hard at all but its on how willing you are to help others regardless of their kind.
