Shaila Sheikh is an ER Nurse and single mom that had a lot on her plate. She moved her kids with her to Concord, California to start a new life and a new job. The COVID-19 virus was widespread, and she was working full-time on the front lines.
To help them through their difficult times, they added a new member to their family. They rescued a two-year-old Belgian Malinois and named him Max.
He was exactly what they needed at that time. The dog brought them happiness, and he made them all feel better. But two weeks after, the family’s joy was taken away from them. Someone stole their dog.
Caught on camera
A week before Max was stolen, Shaila noticed that her good pair of work shoes was missing. She checked footage from her home security system, and she saw a man sneaking into her garage and stealing them. As she was extremely busy and it was just a minor crime, she didn’t report the incident. Later, they think the same man went back and stole their precious pet.
The dognapping happened when Shaila left their dog in their garage for a short period. She went inside her house to get something, and when she went back, the dog was gone. The nurse checked the security footage and saw that a man went in and carried Max away.
The man wore layers of clothing and covered his head with a hood and a mask. They couldn’t identify who he was. The thief rode a bike away after getting Max.
Looking for help
Even though the dog had just been with them for a short time, the family was heartbroken. They have fallen in love with the dog and missed him so much. Shaila has reported the matter to the cops and has launched a campaign to find her dog. The Concord Police Department has shared the footage and photos of Max and the thief.
Shaila said that she was not losing hope. With the help and support of her family and friends, they are relentlessly asking people to help locate Max. They have even started a GoFundMe page to raise money for a reward.
