Bunny, a 7-month-old Pitbull Mix, faced the most difficult battle of her life after being diagnosed with a severe medical condition. Tetanus, a fatal disease, literally turned Bunny to stone. Tetanus is a bacterial infection that sadly lcauses muscle rigidity, often leaving an animal unable to stand or open its mouth to eat. As a result, many pets die from this dreadful illness.
Bunny was already rigid and unable to move when she was brought to the vet by her family. Because her former family could not provide her with the treatment she required to combat this disease, her veterinarian intervened and sought to save her.
Dr. Ali Thompson chose to welcome Bunny into her home and provide her with the 24-hour care she needed to survive. With Tetanus treatment requiring numerous IV injections each day, syringe feeding, physical therapy, and other procedures, she knew she’d be the only hope to save the poor dog.
Bunny’s muscle spasms were so severe that she resembled a living statue. Her limbs were stiff, and the muscles that framed her face were as hard as a stone. Because Bunny’s jaw was completely locked, the only method to feed her was through a tube and a syringe.
Bunny eventually began to wag her tail when she saw her hero, Dr. Thompson, just as it seemed she would be stuck in time forever. It was the modest gesture Bunny needed to keep going, and she only got better from there.
Bunny was able to stand after only two weeks in Dr. Thompson’s home. Though her body was still stiff and unlike an average 7-month-old dog, she was finally on recovery. This devoted Pittie was as committed to her rehabilitation as her vet was, and she recovered completely in the month that followed.
Dr. Thompson believed Bunny was intended to be in her life forever once she returned to her usual self. Dr, Thompson adopted Bunny in the months following her terrifying sickness, and she now gets to spend her life with the woman who saved her.
