Usually Police Dogs are very imposing and dangerous. These dogs are trained to be this way, because of the people they need to intimidate. They are often asked to gain the respect of suspected criminals quickly and get the upper hand to stop any interaction with the Police. Gavel…A Police Service Dog seems to have a different agenda then most Police dogs. Despite being a police service dog, Gavel remains happy and friendly all of the time, which does not serve him well when trying to intimidate.
Gavel was in the midst of a police dog training program in Queensland, Australia when the Police officers realized he was much to friendly to be used in the field as a Police service dog. The Police officers loved Gavel and did not want to just cut him loose. They racked their brains to figure out a role that would fit in with Gavel’s personality. The Police officers were able to find a new job to keep Gavel close to them in a similar Police dog position.
Gavel’s friendly personality qualified him as a perfect match for the world of politics. Gavel has fit in perfectly and has already established himself as a vice real dog with a permanent home in the Government House. Gavel’s new job in the Government House requires him to greet and entertain visiting guests. Gavel has been a perfect fit for his new position. Despite his perfect pedigree and lineage to be an incredible tracking dog for the Police, it turned out Gavel just wanted to be a happy, friendly dog. Yes he has the genetics, but his lack of a mean streak kept him out of daily Police work and in the Government House.
Gavel is just another reason to Love Dogs. They tried to stereo type him because of his pedigree, but he reverted back to what he loved to do and everyone around him is happy they did. Keep up the Incredible Work Gavel!!!
