Now more than ever is the time for us to work hand in hand to help each other. A neighborhood in Manitou Springs, Colorado is doing just that in the most heartwarming and awe-inspiring way possible. Meet Sundance, a very smart dog that delivers groceries to an elderly in the midst of a stay-at-home-order due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Karen Evelth is the kind owner of Sundance. Karen came up with a creative solution in hopes to help her neighbor with COPD and other medical conditions who is susceptible and at high risk of catching the COVID-19 virus.
To lessen the risk of her neighbor, Karen came up with the bright idea of training Sunny, her smart Golden Retriever! To remove the need for her neighbor to leave her house, she trained Sunny to fetch her neighbor’s grocery list every morning! She also trained Sunny to bring the groceries to her neighbor by night!
She doubted the possibility at first but when she gave it a try, Sunny quickly learned her way around and showed how she wanted to be of help! She couldn’t believe it herself when it started to work. She still gets astounded every single time Sunny would successfully get the grocery list and deliver the groceries back to her neighbor.
Karen has been doing grocery runs for her neighbor for weeks now and she intends to keep going as long as necessary. She shared that she’d be lost without Sunny because Sunny helps her in so many ways. She is happy that Sunny is now able to help other people too.
Just when you thought that we already knew everything there is to know about dogs, they come up with heroic acts like this that make us love them all the more! Keep up the good work, Sunny! You are indeed a very good boy!
