The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the worst and most difficult episodes of our lives today. This is the kind of challenging situation where people need to support one another. And this is precisely what a woman named Karen and her dog, Sundance, did.
The dog owner lives in a peaceful neighborhood in Manitou Springs, Colorado. They live next to a senior lady named Renee. She suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other medical conditions, so she is considered at high risk of the deadly virus. If she is infected, she could become seriously ill, or worse, she could die.
Because of this, she couldn’t go out of her house and risk getting exposed.
A good neighbor
Being the kind and caring woman that she is, Karen got worried that Renee wouldn’t have everything she needed to survive her quarantine. She hit upon a good idea. Her Golden Retriever can take a list from their neighbor of what she needs, and she can buy them. Sundance can then deliver the goods to her.
Karen started training her pet right away. With the help of treats, the intelligent dog quickly learned to go to their neighbor’s house, fetch the list of what she needed, and return later with her groceries. This way, there is no risk of exposure to infected persons.
Grateful
Renee is amazed at what Sundance could do. She is always delighted to see him come around, and she can’t believe how clever the dog is. The elderly woman is so grateful to Karen and her pet for all the help they have provided, and without them, she wouldn’t know what to do.
Aside from delivering her essentials, Renee said that the dog’s visits were heartwarming moments for her. She always feels happy to get the opportunity to give the dog a pet on his head and have the chance to interact with someone.
