Countless dogs are abandoned every day. Usually, these dogs are ultimately found by people and are surrendered to the nearest animal shelter. However, some of these dogs aren’t found and end up dying.
Some people abandon their dogs instead of surrendering them in animal shelters because they don’t want to be judged or shamed. Some animal shelters also charge a fee when dog owners surrender their pets, which further discourages people from surrendering their dogs in animal shelters.
A puppy, who was later named Midas, is an example of a dog that was abandoned and left to die. Midas was placed inside a backpack by his former owner and dumped inside a dumpster. Because he was trapped inside a backpack, all Midas could do was cry out.
If Midas wasn’t found, he wouldn’t last two days. His owner never left him anything to eat and drink, and it was also hot inside the backpack. Thankfully, a mechanic named RJ found him.
RJ just happened to hear a noise inside the dumpster. Although he first thought it must have been a raccoon, curiosity got the best of him, and decided to take a look. Since the dumpster was emptied earlier, all RJ found was a backpack, a couple of baggies, and a fake grill,
The backpack was moving but there was no sound coming out of it. RJ decided to take a peek inside the backpack and that’s when he found Midas. As soon as RJ saw Midas’s head pop out, he realized what was going on and started to cry.
There was no way to determine who Midas belonged to before he was dumped. When RJ took Midas to the vet, he was informed that Midas showed signs of abuse. Midas has a fractured jaw and a lung infection.
RJ fell in love with Midas the first time he saw him. He was willing to adopt Midas but hesitated in case Midas was stolen and that his real owners might be nice people. However, if no one claims Midas, RJ won’t hesitate to give him a new forever home. Here’s a video featuring Midas’s story and how a mechanic saved his life.
