Mrs. Flans does not look like a regular dog. She is fabulous in her own way! She is a cross between a chihuahua and a dachshund and is called a Chiweenie. She’s got big ears like a bat, a bubblegum pink nose, and a lolling tongue.
She has a one of a kind appearance and an equally unique character to boot! She is well-loved by her owner Linda Alvarez. She shared that she refers to herself as Mrs. Flans personal assistant sometimes because the furball is a total diva.
Mrs. Flans used to belong to someone else. But when her former owner got pregnant, she decided to let go of her because she did not have enough room for her anymore. She called Alvarez because she volunteers as a rescuer and she immediately went to the Chiweenie’s aid.
Mrs. Flan would have ended up in the streets if not for Alvarez. When they first met, she recalled thinking if Mrs. Flans was a bat upon seeing her unusual features – her ears were sticking out of the towel that she was wrapped in. She sure is an interesting creature!
She was a product of backyard breeding and that’s what gave her the funny features. Pups born out of this practice usually have genetic abnormalities. In fact, Mrs. Flans used to have a brother who passed away soon after they were born.
Although Mrs. Flans is alive and kicking, she has conditions of her own. She is deaf, blind in one eye, albino, and has dog shaker syndrome. This gives her occasional seizures that they look out for. Her former owner used to find it funny because to her, she looked like dancing. But with Alvarez, she makes sure to watch out for these episodes carefully.
Mrs. Flans was supposed to be put up for adoption but after months of being together, Alvarez decided to keep her as she became a part of the family already. Mrs. Flans love posing in front of the camera in costumes and she enjoys going outside for walks.
