Dog parents would love to know how much their pets adore them. They could use this knowledge to bolster their self-esteem. And why you might ask.
The simple answer is because dog parents are just as needy as the pets they have chosen to raise. If they weren’t needy, they would have opted for kittens, right? All kidding aside, it would sure be nice if the pitbull you’ve been doting on for years could reassure you that it loves you back.
But for a family from Staten Island, New York, no assurance is needed from their pitbull. Their pup had done something for them that was more than enough to say I wuv you.
Kilo is a 12-year-old pitbull from Staten Island. Kilo has lived with his current family his entire life. Justin Becker, Kilo’s dad, was on the verge of tears while being interviewed by ABC News.
Justin’s palpable emotions were understandable. He’d recently gone through a traumatic experience. He had almost lost Kilo.
Kilo had sustained a gunshot wound after protecting Justin and his household from home invaders. Yes, the dog literally took a bullet for his human. If that does not convey love, then we don’t know what will.
According to Justin, Kilo was on the brink of death. At one point, Justin’s girlfriend even suggested to him to just hold the dog comfortably so he’d be nicely tucked in his dad’s arms during his last moments alive. But miracles do happen.
The vets who took care of Kilo did everything they could to save the dog. And they succeeded. Now Kilo’s on his way to a full recovery.
Justin is feeding his dog with steak and other treats. This is his small way to say thank you to his loyal pup.
