Pit bulls are not known for howling. However, with a great teacher, nothing is impossible.
Gunner is an eight-year-old German short-haired pointer. When he met his puppy brother named Murphy, he knew he would become the perfect protégé. Murphy suddenly idolized his big brother Gunner and tried to copy everything he does.
The dogs’ mom, Sarah Lee, said Gunner and Murphy bonded instantly. Murphy goes to wherever Gunner goes. Murphy sleeps wherever Gunner sleeps. The pair are inseparable.
Murphy diligently copied every move Gunner does. However, he failed to copy Gunner’s inner wolf, which is something Gunner has effortlessly no trouble doing.
Murphy would only watch Gunner and then tilt his head from side to side, other times sniffing him to check what he’s doing.
Howling did not come easily to Murphy. However, it did not stop him from trying over and over again.
According to Lee, one day, Murphy began trying. Eventually, his little dull whines slowly turned into synchronous howls with his big brother. Murphy totally copies Gunner. He will just howl if Gunner is doing it.
The two dogs have a lot of energy and love people, snuggles, and food. Even if they have a huge age gap, it’s obvious that their tandem is as close as brothers could be.
Lee said that Gunner still would act like a little pup, so he and Murphy would run around their yard sniffing anything and everything. They would both sit behind the deck steps together “pawtrolling” their yard.
Lee added that Murphy is just eight months old, so their level of energy matches perfectly. The duo snuggles together on the sofa, share their toys, play tug-of-war, and eat together.
Gunner has taught Murphy also how to be gentle with their mom’s small children. Lee couldn’t be happier having such an ideal role model for Murphy, even though it makes their life a bit noisier.
Lee said their pups are their family. They love each one of them unconditionally.
