Baby Masailah from Stockton, California, and their family dog Sasha, were born merely days apart from each other.
The two formed a very special friendship as they grew up together.
They would often stay in the same room and sleep in the same bed.
They would take their meals side by side and even take a bath at the same time.
When they were eight months old, the young pit bull proved how strong her connection is with her baby sister.
The Fire
According to Masailah’s mother, Latana Chai, she let Sasha out after dinner to let her do her business.
Her baby daughter was already in their room sleeping, and she was cleaning up in the kitchen.
What she didn’t know is that fire was already engulfing her neighbor’s house.
Furthermore, the flames were now near her own home.
Then suddenly, she heard her back door making a loud sound. Sasha was jumping on it, and she was crying out too.
Latana couldn’t understand why she would do that as the pup never did that before. So she casually walked to the door and opened it.
Sasha rushed in and started barking repeatedly.
Latana could sense that something was disturbing her.
She walked outside to see what made the dog act that way.
That is when she saw the fire, jumping over to her house.
A Hero was Born
The frantic mother of three ran back to her house to get her children.
When she got to the baby’s room, she saw that the dog was already dragging Masailah from her bed.
Sasha clamped her jaws on the baby’s diaper, trying to get her to safety.
Latana got the baby and her two other kids and led all of them outside their house.
Sasha was right behind them. Shortly after, the firefighters arrived and got the fire in control.
Thanks to their protective dog, everyone in the family was safe. Especially her best friend.
