A new name for his new life.
A little Chihuahua pup has been taken from his owner and renamed Lucky. This is because the small pooch almost died after he found his owner’s stash of heroin and consumed it. His death would have been imminent if it wasn’t for the timely arrival of the local police.
The cops were on patrol when they saw the seemingly lifeless body of the tiny dog inside the owner’s truck which was parked outside a Home Depot in Texas. When the officers saw that the dog was still breathing, albeit slowly, they rushed him to the North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic.
Barely alive
According to the vet, when the unconscious dog arrived, he was barely breathing. They immediately gave him emergency treatment. And luckily, they were able to stabilize his condition. Lucky had to stay in the animal hospital for several days for observation.
When he fully recovered, the small pup was then transferred to the local shelter, where he will stay until he is ready to be put up for adoption. His story was posted on social media, and hundreds of people started making inquiries about the dog.
To be fair to everyone who wanted to adopt Lucky, the shelter staff held a lottery. The winning ticket went to a kind senior man. But when he was about to claim the dog, he noticed a little girl nearby who seemed to really want to adopt the tiny pooch.
He decided to give the sweet girl, named Lacy, the ticket. Lucky went to his new home that day, held by a smiling girl who would no doubt love him so much.
Everyone helping out
Everyone involved, the cops, the vets, and the shelter staff, all did a crucial part in saving Lucky’s life. Without them, the adorable Chihuahua would have surely died.
As for lucky’s previous owner, he was arrested the same day that the dog was found. They were inside Home Depot changing the price tags on several products.
