Some dogs get easily attached to other animals that provide them love and care. And if these pups get separated from their caregivers, chances are, they will eventually forget about them. However, some dogs may retain memories of those who have made them feel special.
A little pup named Rookie lived on a farm with other farm animals. His owner shared that he lost his mom when he was still a baby, but he found a family in the company of cows. He particularly bonded with one of them whom he treated as his own mom.
However, there came a time when the two had to be separated.
Tough times separated Rookie and his foster mom
Rookie and his bovine foster mom had bonded for two years that they became hard to keep them apart. Unfortunately, times had gotten tough, and Rookie’s owner had to sell the cow.
When the buyers then came to pick up the cow, the young dog didn’t take it too well. At this point, he realized that the two of them were going to be separated. Rookie even burst into tears when he saw his foster mom being dragged outside. His repeatedly pleading barks were not enough to keep the cow.
As soon as the cow was gone, Rookie ran away to go after her. Thankfully, the cow’s new home was just a few meters away from the dog’s farm.
A change of heart
Evidently, the poor pup became depressed. It appeared that nothing could ever cheer him up. Rookie didn’t eat, and he spent his days howling and crying.
The farmer then had a change of heart, thinking that taking back the cow was the best course of action. When the cow came back home, Rookie was full of life and joy once again.
To avoid another tear-inducing incident, the farmer worked to make Rookie socialize with other friends. In fact, the scent of the cow had been rubbed against another dog, hoping that Rookie would pick it up.
