Love found its way through San Francisco’s Cuddle Club where senior dogs get to receive the love and attention that they need from senior citizens.
The Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco recognized the fact that senior dogs are often abandoned, forsaken, and taken for granted by owners. It’s a sad reality that most owners fail to give the right amount of love and attention to aging dogs. Some dogs don’t get as lucky as others for they’re even abandoned by their owners upon aging.
In San Francisco, this issue is dealt with by groups of individuals that dedicate time, love, and effort for the care of aging dogs.
In line with their efforts to secure that all the senior dogs under their care receive the right amount of love and attention, they founded the Cuddle Club.
In Cuddle Club, senior dogs get to hang out with senior citizens.
It’s very simple. In Cuddle Club, several times a month, senior citizens gather in one room together with senior dogs. All dogs are seven years old or older or 49 years old in dog years.
Here, senior citizens pet and play with senior dogs for an hour. They then all go for a walk so that dogs can exercise and experience fresh air.
What happens is truly magical for apart from the dogs receiving the love and attention that they deserve, the senior citizens also get to feel that love. Through petting and playing with the senior dogs, the senior citizens also get to receive unconditional love and pure attention from the dogs. Hanging out with dogs and tending to their needs is also said to improve the mental health and overall disposition of the senior citizen members of Cuddle Club.
Through this story, it’s safe to say that love, indeed, will always find a way!
