Intense heat during the summer season can be lethal for stray dogs. Thankfully, some people are willing to help these animals and take them to animal shelters where they can get food, water, and a place to stay while they wait for someone to adopt them.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Pumpy Tudors was out patrolling one particularly hot day when he saw a stray dog that was on the side of the road. Tudors had no idea how the dog got there but he saw that she was in desperate need of help.
The temperature was 94 degrees and the dog was obviously struggling. She appeared to be so exhausted from the heat that she couldn’t even run away when Tudors approached her.
Aside from being exhausted, Tudors also noticed that the dog was emaciated. He could easily see the ribs on her body. To gain her trust, Tudors got a chair out of his car, sat next to the dog, and opened an umbrella to shield her from the heat. He also got her some food and water.
When the dog felt comfortable, Tudors picked her up and carried her back to his car. He took her to Cleveland TN Animal Control and got her to the vet to get treated. After spending a week at the veterinarian, the dog was finally healthy enough to get adopted.
The dog is now named Princess and she was adopted by her rescuer, State Trooper Tudors. Thanks to Tudors, Princess is now living the life she deserves. Although she still has some treatment to go through, but she now has a home where she’s loved and a family who will never abandon her again.
Unfortunately, not all stray dogs are as lucky as Princess. The highway patrol reminds people to keep their pets safe, especially during the summer months. They also encourage people to help or at least report any stray dogs they see that are struggling. Here’s a video featuring Princess’ rescue and how a State Trooper gave her a second chance at a happy life.
