People who rescue and foster dogs are true heroes. They don’t only save the lives of these dogs, but they also give them so much love and help them learn to trust humans again.
Fostering dogs is voluntary work. However, it’s very fulfilling once you see how the dogs turn out after being adopted.
A woman named Angela is an experienced animal rescuer. She also fosters rescue dogs from animal shelters to help them recover in a home environment. Angela knows that fostering rescue dogs isn’t easy since many rescue animals have many health and emotional issues.
When she decided to foster a rescue dog named Griff, Angela knew that he would be a challenge. Griff was in such horrific condition that Angela felt so sorry for him. Before getting rescued, Griff lived a horrible life. Almost all of the fur in his body was missing, and he was also distrustful of humans.
Griff didn’t know any commands, didn’t know how to play, and didn’t know what it’s like to be loved by humans. Basically, Griff didn’t know how to be a dog. Even the slightest touch scared him, and he would tremble in fear whenever Angela approached him with his tail tucked between his legs.
Despite all of his issues, Angela refused to give up on Griff. Angela slept on the floor beside his crate during the first few nights of fostering Griff. She kept the crate open to let him understand that she didn’t want to harm him and that she would take care of him.
Eventually, Griff realizes that he’s in a safe place with a good human. Progress was slow, but Griff started opening up. He even started to take food from Angela’s hands, which shows that he trusts her. The next milestone with Griff was when Angela could get a leash on him.
At first, Griff was terrified when Angela took him out on walks. However, when he realized that going out was a good thing, he eventually relaxed and started enjoying the walk. Griff even started loving going outside.
Seeing how far Griff has come, Angela couldn’t believe how he was before. When Angela first took Griff home, he didn’t want anything to do with her. After a few weeks of showing him love, Griff completely opened up and started to love his foster mom. Here’s a video featuring Griff’s transformation and how Angela helped overcome his fears.
