A woman named Jordyn Stevenson worked at the St. Louis Stray Rescue, a group with a goal of helping out stray animals that needed medical help. Since it was an important part of her job, she assisted in the rescue of a Pit Bull that was unable to walk. Riley, the severely malnourished Pittie, was so frail that he appeared to be inches from death.
Jordyn said that her colleague, Donna, immediately carried Riley inside their shelter and placed him on the examination table. The terrified Pittie trembled in dread, but Jordyn and her crew convinced her that everything would be fine.
Riley was tucked in with blankets and kept warm by the shelter personnel. Jordyn recalls how grateful the Pit Bull appeared to be that someone had finally taken a chance on him.
Jordyn and the other rescuers wanted Riley to enjoy the outdoors, so they decided to pack the red wagon they own with blankets to ensure the dog was comfortable. Riley received his first taste of being walked outside on his 12th day in the shelter.
Riley kept his head up the entire time he was outside, and even looked proud. Riley relished his first outing and appeared satisfied just simply sitting in the wagon.
The determined dog developed the desire to stand and walk normally on his 14th day at the shelter. Riley was unable to run at that time, but he was able to stand and take a few steps on his own. Jordyn revealed that she burst into tears as Riley continued walking outside.
On his 42nd day in the shelter, a gentleman named Ron paid Riley a visit, and Jordyn stated that the man was actually monitoring Riley’s progress. Riley was legally adopted and now has a family that will adore him for the rest of his life.
