Ermioni Giannakou of DAR Animal Rescue received a call that needed an urgent response. The man who called said he spotted a puppy in the grassland and he believed someone left the poor animal on his own to die. He was concerned so he asked if sheâd be able to help, and she quickly said yes.
The man, instead of simply providing details on the whereabouts of the puppy, offered to take Ermioni to the rescue site. He rode his motorcycle while she drove her car. It was a long drive, and it took hours before they made it to the location.
Eventually, the kind man pulled over so Ermioni knew they finally made it to their destination. He got off his motorcycle and showed her the puppy. He was surprised and delighted at the same time to see that the puppy was still there, and almost didnât move since the last time he saw him.
Ermioni stepped out of her car and gazed around the surrounding. She noticed there were no houses or any form of buildings nearby. There were no water or food sources either. Clearly, whoever dumped the puppy wanted him to die.
The rescuer gently scooped up the little guy and loaded him into her car. She thanked the kind man before leaving and then drove straight to the vet. She knew the puppy was sick and in need of urgent medical attention.
The puppy suffered from scabies, diarrhea, and dehydration, and needed to stay at the hospital for a few days. But despite his poor condition, he was so happy to meet people. He wagged his happy tail at the vet staff and tilted his head when Ermionni gave him head scratches.
After a couple of days, the puppy received his medical clearance. Ermioni came and picked him up and took him straight to the shelter. He felt a little anxious at first, but it didnât take long for him to realize DAR Animal Rescue was a safe place.
The puppy is now up and ready for adoption through DAR Animal Rescueâs partner Greek Animal Rescue. If you want to provide this little gentleman a great life, reach out to either of the rescue groups now.
