All of us are inspired by some people that seemed ordinary but achieved an extraordinary goal or challenge like reaching the top of Mount Everest, being able to speak in another language fluently, finishing a marathon, being an expert in the field of quantum physics and achieving your pet’s best shot ever. Taking your pet’s photo seemed like an easy job to do, but it’s not. Some of us do their best to make sure there’s no movement when we take those pictures but it’s insanely difficult with moving subjects. They might have taken a lot of pictures of their dog, cat, lizard, bird or whatever pet it may be but still failed to capture the most photogenic picture of their beloved housemate. But don’t worry, below are five valuable ways you can do to overcome this challenge so you can have fun taking pictures of your pet moving forward.
1. Before you do the picture taking, diffuse some of their energy first. If you have a dog, take him for walk, let him fetch that branch of tree and definitely have fun. In this way, you’re hitting two birds with one stone; you’re spending time with your pets and at the same time diffusing their energy to get that best shot. For cats, keep them away from catnip and just give them some new toys to deplete their energy. This will help you in catching that perfect shot you’ve been wanting since they are now stable after they use their energy. Just make sure to keep your camera steady as well. Blurry shots will be avoided since they are now relaxed.
2. Make them aware that there’s going to be a reward that they will get after you’ve accomplished your goal. Like humans, motivation is the key. Treats are always the best way to motivate them to do something like posing for that nice shot. No matter what happens, your dog will do his best to deliver that cute, heart melting, perfect picture with tantalizing eyes to get his treat. Treats will surely make them cooperate with you.
3. To get a good shot, it is better if you will make the adjustments yourself to get that perfect angle. To level to your pets, you can lower your hands and knees so that it would not be difficult to capture that perfect shot. You will catch more natural, effortless look from your pet and guess what? You might see a different character that you haven’t seen before. You might consider it as your most favorite picture of your pet.
4. Make sure that the flash of your camera is completely turned off. The unexpected light from your flash might get your pet surprised in which instead of a perfect eyes, you might get a wacky pose. To get a realistic, not harsh, natural result, just do a natural lighting on your pet during picture taking. The worst thing that can happen is you running around to catch your surprised pet.
5. Patience is a virtue and that applies on this one too. It’s not only your pet that should be prepared but also you, who will take a lot of pictures to get that one, beautiful shot. You might be taking 150 pictures or more so be ready. One thing that you wouldn’t want to happen is you quitting after a hard day or days of work. You must allocate generous amount of time for this activity therefore, just take that leave so you can focus your attention and energy on this. The sooner you start, the better chances of finishing it early.
