Time and time again, we’ve read research and studies that verify that dogs can recognize human emotions. In this new study done by Nature Scientific Reports, researchers gained evidence as to how a person’s chronic stress can rub off to their dogs.
The study involved 58 dogs and their humans. The study centered on the knowledge that stress is preserved in mammal’s hair through cortisol increase. To measure the level of stress of each humans, hair samples of all 58 dogs and their humans were collected.
Apart from the study on hair, all humans were given a questionnaire that zoned in on their mental health and the behavior of their dog.
Comparing data and variables, it glaringly showed that all 58 dogs’ stress level correlated with their owners. If a human is in a good mental state, the dog experienced no stress at all.
However, humans with chronic stress had dogs that experience chronic stress as well.
This study manifests yet again as to how dogs truly treat their humans as an important and significant part of their life. So much so that they get stressed whenever we get stressed.
Hence, you really have no choice but to take care of yourself, your well-being, and your mental health. If you can’t do it for yourself, do It for your dog. He suffers as much as you do. And if you love him and truly feel for him, you would do everything possible to keep him safe, secure, and happy.
Should your dog be manifesting odd and lethargic behavior, best to question yourself immediately as your dog may simply be mirroring your well-being.
Please do take care of yourself and your well-being, as your dog’s wellness is entirely dependent on it, too. What truly precious tender angels dogs are indeed!
