No one is in any position to judge but one just can’t help but do so when one encounters a story of neglect such as this.
For heartbreakingly unexplained reasons, Lionheart, our star here, was neglected by his owner for two years.
For two years, he lived under a bed surrounded by his own urine and feces — barely fed and gravely sick.
Through God’s grace, Lionheart’s owner surrendered him to a Virginia shelter. This is where love and compassion turned Lionheart’s life around.
Upon surrender, volunteers rushed to attend to Lionheart’s needs. His fur were severely matted that Lionheart couldn’t even properly walk and eat.
It took three hours for the patient and loving volunteers to remove all the matted fur from Lionheart.
After clipping his nails, he underwent full medical evaluation. He was found to have skin sores, dental issues, and internal parasites. He was also neutered.
Named Lionheart for his fighting and energetic spirit despite experiencing years of neglect, Lionheart fully recovered after three months of loving and compassionate care from the shelter volunteers.
Having seen his true personality, Lionheart appeared to be a very energetic dog that enjoys playing and trusts people quickly.
Having fully recovered, the shelter was able to quickly find a forever home for Lionheart. It was so easy to fall in love with him for he is very friendly and is always eager to interact and play. It’s miraculous what three months of positive care and compassion can do to a dog’s body and spirit. His new owners are now happily tending to all his needs with so much love and affection.
His forever home and family re-named him Cody and he is now living happily ever after! Keep on smiling, Cody! You’re truly a good boy!
