Kelsey Leachman, a resident of Louisville, Kentucky, shared her dog’s heroic act as they dealt with a burglar who broke into her home. The event happened near Evergreen and Morengo in Middletown—late Monday night.
A few years ago, Kelsey got Layla, a pit bull, from a terrible state. When they met, she found something special in Layla, which made her adopt Layla.
Ever since then, they have always been together and very attached. Kelsey rescued Layla, and in return, Layla saved her. Indeed, a dog will do every single thing to save their owner.
Late on a Monday night, the two were just in front of the television watching and relaxing when suddenly Layla started to make a fuss. It confused Kelsey as to why Layla acted weirdly.
Kelsey told the Wave 3 News that Layla acted weird, barking around the place, and hastily ran to the kitchen. It alerted her. Knowing something happened, she followed Layla into the kitchen.
Kelsey was right that something was off. She saw an unknown man standing in her kitchen. She dashed for the door, but the man ran after her, pushing her to the ground.
That whole time, Layla went crazy. She began barking and biting the man’s leg while Kelsey kicked and screamed, asking for help. It was the first time she saw Layla in that state, determined to save her.
With Layla’s help, Kelsey got the upper hand and could escape the intruder’s grasp. Layla did not stop and chased the man away. Kelsey then called 911 right after the commotion.
The cops arrived with their canines to look for the intruder. Unfortunately, the man successfully got away, but the important thing is that both are safe from danger, thanks to Layla’s determination to save Kelsey.
The police dogs managed to track the intruder’s scent, but the smell disappeared at Eastern High School. The man possibly walked over to Kelsey’s place and drove off after. Police are on the lookout for the suspect.
Kelsey said that she had no match against his strength alone. Thankfully, Layla was there to save her, making her love the dog more and more.
