With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, hugging seems so strange. Many people veer away from this essential human touch because they might be a carrier of the virus. This is true, and this is siding with caution. Fortunately for dogs, though, hugging is still safe, and dogs can give hugs to their fellow dogs.
Hugging is one of the favorite activities of this Corgi named Wallace. The dog likes to stop and give a pinch to anyone he meets on the road, provided that the other party is willing. Wallace’s human, Raminick, said that the dog is so happy whenever he sees people and his fellow dogs.
With this happiness, Wallace loves to give people kisses and hugs to his fellow dogs. The dog would often initiate this act, and when the other party reciprocates, he feels pleased and accomplished during that day.
According to Raminick, Wallace loves to snuggle with his best friend Daisy, a Great Dane. Despite their size difference, Wallace does not matter because he finds a way to give Daisy the hug she deserves. Raminick is very supportive of Wallace’s endeavor because, for him, it is the dog’s way of releasing his emotions.
But Raminick also mentioned that no one trained Wallace to do this kind of thing. It is still a mystery until today how the dog learned this kind of trick. For Raminick, the dog might have seen his humans hugging each other whenever they meet, so this could be the reason why the dog learned the skill.
Although Wallace loves giving out hugs, the dog likewise loves receiving one. This is why Raminick and other family members do not fail to hug their beloved dog. This is because they want to let Wallace feel that what he does to other dogs is a good practice.
