Spooky season is here and one cutie pie fur baby is not a big fan of it!
A super cute and funny video was uploaded earlier this week by a TikTok user named Mandy that had Monte –– an adorable Golden Retriever ––– reacting to a bunch of Halloween decorations.
The video is extra adorable because Mote seemed to be excited at first. But lo and behold, everything changed when he came in contact with large skeletons and jack-o-lanterns.
Mandy captioned the video with, “Immediately no” because it was just too funny and obvious that Monte is not a fan of spooky season.
Various viewers commented and sent love to Monte!
“I don’t like it either buddy!,” one user commented, while another wrote, “Take that baby immediately to Starbucks for a pup cup and take him home!”
Other commenters highlighted that Monte might be frightened because he is a Golden Retriever. One user wrote, “Goldens know evil when they see it,” and one playfully teased, “Goldens are scared of their own shadow.”
Monte, like all dogs, can be scared of the Halloween decors for the following reasons:
1. The look unfamiliar – dogs find unusual objects threatening.
2. Intrusiveness – Halloween decors that can be too large can make them extra sensitive and threatened.
3. Facial recognition – dogs heavily rely on facial recognition, and when they can’t see one or see something that is unfamiliar, they can instantly get threatened.
4. Changed space – an altered environment can make a dog feel weary and scared. Dogs, as most dog lovers know, are creatures of habit. The slightest change in their environment can make them panic.
6. Scent changes – the change in scents can make dogs feel uncomfortable and extra sensitive given that they have highly sensitive noses.
How about you? Are your dogs okay with Halloween decors?
