While riding their bikes on March 30, 2019, a man named Tyler and his five-year-old son heard a puppy crying. They conducted an investigation and found him buried beneath a pile of rocks.
Unable to extract the animal with a shovel and pickaxe, they dialed the North Charleston Fire Department’s non-emergency number. Captain Paul Bryant, a veteran firefighter, went to answer the call.
According to the video uploaded by the Fire Department, Captain Bryant assisted in bringing the puppy to safety while on his knees. The dog escapes the hole with the assistance of the firefighter. The captain enticed the animal out of its hiding place with encouraging words.
When Captain Bryant extracted the puppy from the boulder pile, he appeared quite disoriented. But only temporarily. When he realized he was safe, his tail began to wag. While Captain Bryant checked for injuries, he jumped and showered his rescuer’s face with grateful licks.
The firefighter handed over the puppy to the family, who then dialed 911. To determine whether the dog belonged to someone, he was sent to an emergency veterinarian. When they discovered that the puppy had no owner, they brought him to a shelter. As he awaited adoption, the Charleston Animal Society became the puppy’s new home.
When Captain Bryant discovered that no one had claimed the dog, he knew he had to acquire him. His family desired a new dog, therefore, he said that he was destined to take the puppy home with him.
Rocky is now ready to join his new family, having been implanted with his owner’s chip and given a new name. His joy was evident when he saw his savior, who is now his fur dad. The dog wagged its tail, leaped onto Captain Bryant’s lap, and licked his face. Who wouldn’t be pleased if the same someone rescued them twice?
