Top 8 Dog Health Tips Every Owner Should Know

Top 8 Dog Health Tips Every Owner Should Know

To ensure that your dog is always in top shape, take note of the following essential health care tips!

Tip #1: Never overfeed

Don’t give in to puppy dog eyes! Avoid overfeeding to ensure that your dog does not become obese. Overweight dogs are more at risk of suffering from joint diseases and cardiovascular diseases. Obese dogs also have a compromised immune system

Tip #2: Nose health

Always check if your dog’s nose is wet. A healthy level of moisture would ensure that your dog can keep a healthy level of body temperature!

Tip #3: Annual vet appointments

A regular annual vet check-up is still one of the best ways to ensure that your dog is in top shape. With one, your vet would easily be able to screen any possible health concerns.

Tip #4: Pet First Aid Kit

A pet first aid kit will allow you to feel more at ease and relaxed in case of emergency situations or accidents. With one, you’d always know what to do next. One is also always handy in case you’d be camping or hiking with your pet.

Tip #5: Pet Insurance

Having one in place will secure that you don’t spend as much or none at all in case your pet would have any medical concerns.

Tip #6: Teeth Health

This should be done at least twice a day to prevent tartar accumulation and remove plaque that can lead to medical concerns.

Tip #7: Emergency Plan

You should have an organized guide on all important information about your dog that is easily accessible to all. The list should include the following:

a. Feeding frequency

b. Feeding time

c. Feeding measurement

d. Medication

e. Vet’s phone number

f. Vet’s address

This guide should be given to one or two people around your neighborhood who can easily help your dog in case you’re not around.

Tip #8: Intentional Play

Make it a point to touch your dog’s nails, toes, ears, mouth, and feet during play. His will desensitize them and make it easier for you to cut their nails and their vet to examine them during check-ups.
