Dogs were bred to exude different traits and personalities. Some are energetic, playful, and social while some are protective, chill, and laid-back. In this post, we’re going to highlight dog breeds that are extremely independent and don’t mind being on their own. They are perfect pets for busy individuals that may not have much time for longer playtimes.
1. Chow Chow
Chow Chow will not demand much time for you because they weren’t bred to be playful. They were bred to be chill and powerful working dogs. Hence, they won’t demand too many hugs.
2. Alaskan Malamute
Alaskan Malamutes are not needy at all. They were bred to be ever hardworking even if it’s extremely cold. They’re pretty fine with just chilling on the floor and doing nothing.
3. Greyhound
Greyhounds are not demanding when it comes to their human’s time. They’re pretty much happy to just be by their human’s side. They love lounging.
4. Siberian Husky
Siberian Huskies are close relatives of Alaskan Malamutes. They work efficiently when part of a pack but they can also perform well and be content when they’re alone.
5. Akita
Akitas, apart from being extremely loyal, are also mighty independent. They enjoy giving love but you won’t ever see them demanding attention via whining or barking.
6. Beagle
Beagles are hunters so they love being independent. They’d easily explore for days if they’d be permitted to escape your yard.
7. Afghan Hound
Afghan Hounds are always alert and dignified. They’re not the clingy type that would always want to be around their human. They’d be perfectly fine and won’t panic at all if you’d need extended hours for work.
8. Jack Russell Terrier
Jack Russell Terriers have a reputation for being pushy, not because they want cuddles, but because they want to work. They’re always up for physical activity and would be fine even if without company.
9. Cairn Terrier
Cairn Terriers are hyperactive. They can play all day without the need to cling to their humans every now and then.
10. Airedale Terrier
Airedale Terriers were bred to hunt and work on their own. They are very strong and stately and will not demand excessive attention.
