Rozalie, a volunteer at Save the Dogs in Kallikratia, an animal shelter, was walking home when she noticed a dog that was struggling. She walked towards the pup and noticed that his head was inside a plastic jug.
To the rescue
Max, the dog, instantly ran away when he saw Rozalie. Rozalie didn’t think twice and began to run after Max.
No one knew how long Max would have survived with the plastic around his head nor did anyone know when he last ate. What Rozalie knew for sure was that she had to save him.
Max didn’t let anyone near him so Rozalie called for backup. Seven of her friends who were also volunteers at the shelter came to help. Eventually, they captured Max and immediately brought him to an animal clinic.
Journey to forever home
Once they arrived at the animal clinic, the vet immediately inspected Max. Luckily, the jug had a hole which made it easier for Max to breathe.
The vet, assisted by the nurse, then began to cut the neck of the jug, careful not to hurt Max. As soon as the jug was completely off of Max’s face, Rozalie sighed in relief. All of her running was definitely worth it.
It was evident that Max was also relieved to get the jug off his head. He could finally see where he was going and he was very happy about it.
Rozalie soon decided to foster Max since she felt that she had already bonded with him. It didn’t take long before love, care, and a few friends helped Max blossom into a wonderful and sociable dog.
A few months later, a German family asked about Max. Rozalie was so happy that Max had a chance to get the life he deserved.
