It’s unbelievable how people can be unaware, careless, and irresponsible at times. This story is yet another proof that dogs are vulnerable creatures that need solid protection from misguided humans.
Acting from a tip, Orange County police officers rescued 136 puppies inside a multi-million dollar home in East Woodbine Avenue. At around 2:20pm on the 30th of May, police officers entered the vicinity after receiving a report of possible animal cruelty within the gated community.
Entering the house, police officers saw a horrid living situation with puppies lying about on floors filled with pee and poop. The house was fetid and police officers quickly declared it uninhabitable. The situation is the same even on the second floor. No room was spared from filth — from bedrooms to bathrooms.
Seeing the tragic situation, police officers quickly rescued all 136 dogs from the area. All the dogs were of small breeds like Maltese poodles and Shih Tzus. Given the deplorable living situation, some dogs manifested serious health problems. All 136 dogs were covered in their own filth and needed immediate health care. The operation took hours to complete with rescuers needing to wear hazardous-material suits and oxygen masks as the smell was unbearable and toxic to human health.
All dogs are now in the hands of authorities. The operation was covered live on TV and numerous calls have been received regarding the possibility of adopting the poor dogs. Upon complete health check-up and recovery, all will be up for adoption.
A neighbor reported that the owners of the house sold hear a puppy way back in 2010 for $1500.00. Apart from facing animal cruelty cases, the owners of the house may also face administrative cases from running an unlicensed puppy mill. The owners had to leave the house as it was declared unlivable.
We are glad to report that as of press time, all 136 puppies are closely monitored and well taken care of by animal welfare officers and medical experts. All are receiving one-on-one attention, comfort, and care. It is lucky indeed that all 136 puppies were rescued from such a horrid living situation that no dog, human being, or any living creature deserves.
