While adopting rescue dogs from animal shelters do a lot of good, it’s not a decision that should be taken lightly. Taking care of a dog is a huge responsibility and many people fail to realize the amount of time and work they have to put in to care for a dog. What’s even sadder is that some dogs that do get adopted are eventually returned to the animal shelter.
A dog named Chompers was one of the unlucky dogs that were returned to the animal shelter after he was adopted. He was returned twice and the shelter staff and volunteers thought that he wasn’t going to find the right person to give him a chance.
In addition to being a Pitbull, Chompers is also deaf. It was hard enough for a dog his breed to attract potential adopters but his disability makes it even more challenging to find someone willing to adopt him. Whenever people visit the shelter to adopt a dog, Chompers was always overlooked.
Everyone at the animal shelter knew that Chompers deserved a loving forever home. He just needed to find the right person who could see past his disability and give him a chance. Thankfully, a woman named Yarelis was looking to adopt a dog and happened to come across Chompers.
It was love at first sight. Yarelis felt that Chompers was meant to be with her. Despite knowing that he was deaf, she still gave him a chance. Yarelis knew that there would be challenges but she was willing to work with Chompers and wasn’t backing down.
Yarelis and her partner eventually ended up adopting Chompers and they’ve never looked back. Yarelis and her partner do everything they can to give Chompers the life that he deserved. Chompers also adjusted well to his new life and spends his time cuddling with his new family and dragging his blanket around his new forever home.
Chomper’s story tells us that there’s no such thing as a broken dog. Every dog deserves a loving forever homes. It’s just a matter of finding the right family who will give them a chance. Here’s a video featuring Chompers and how he found the perfect family.
