An American soldier who only introduced herself as Sergeant Char is raising funds to bring PupPup, a dog she rescued while stationed in Eastern Europe, home. Paws of War, a non-profit that trains and matches shelter dogs with war veterans, is assisting her in her fundraising efforts.
According to Sergeant Char, PupPup was born to a stray that frequented her army base. When the stray gave birth, the soldiers moved her and her litter to a safer place where they could be cared for. And while the soldiers quickly warmed up to the newborn puppies, she was drawn PupPup, the most nervous-looking in the bunch.
Sergeant Char made sure that PupPup was loved and well-fed. They formed such an unexpectedly strong bond that the soldier decided to rescue the pup and claim her as her own. But now that she is soon scheduled to go back to the United States, she needs help to take the dog with her.
Sergeant Char said she could not stand the thought of leaving PupPup behind. The area where she was stationed is not safe for stray animals, especially dogs. They even had to move the litter to protect them from threats on several occasions.
PupPup means everything to Sergeant Char, and she is afraid that he would die if left behind. She said she would be eternally grateful for any help to bring him home with her.
According to Paws of War, Sergeant Char is still the only person PupPup is not scared to go near. And the only way they can successfully bring PupPup to the States is with financial help from people in the community. The organization is urgently seeking donations to help cover the costs of finally bringing the dog to his forever home.
