Elephants are among the smarted animals in the world. There brain is considered to be very close to a human’s in terms of activity. Aside from being intelligent, elephants are also very sociable and a great communicators as well. When elephants sense danger near them, they comfort one another through differing sounds they make. Elephants are also very emotional and spend a good deal of time playing with other elephants, especially their offspring.
Sick and elderly female elephants are cared for in an elephant sanctuary located in Tennessee. Currently there are over 10 elephants being expertly handled and taken care of in this facility. All of the elephants located at this sanctuary have very close elephant friends, except for one…and her best friend is a dog. The elephant’s name is Tara and her best friend’s name is Bella. Despite there size differences they are inseparable.
In one instance Bella injured her back and was forced to stay in a special treatment facility for three weeks while her back healed. Tara missed her friend desperately and waited patiently in their spot for weeks looking for Bella. Tara refused to leave the spot, even while the other elephants continued to roam the yard. Finally after weeks of waiting for Bella’s back to get better the friends were reunited and there meeting could not have been more precious. Bella and Tara are finally back together and they are thrilled to be able to start playing again.
Workers at the sanctuary could not believe what they had witnessed, and were thrilled to see the two animals reunited. Their beautiful friendship proves that no matter your size or species, beautiful relationships can be achieved. Yes, even an elephant and a dog can be best friends….I hold out hope for the human race. I Love Dogs!!!!
