The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (which is more popularly known as PETA) is a nonprofit organization that has been working all around the globe trying to help out animals that need help. They have field personnel who are scouring the streets and the places to look for any animals that are not treated well or need human intervention.
It was during one of the runs in the field that members of PETA had actually seen Murphy. At first, they did not know just what kind of animal Murphy was. What they were sure about was that it was an animal and it definitely needed their help.
What the PETA workers really saw was a small little animal that had hair all over it. But that hair was matted and it was all huddled up by itself so it was either scared or it was fearing for its life. They spotted the little animal right inside a crate made of wire and which was really filthy. This crate they found in a hallway that was seemingly a dump and was really dark.
When they went out to help out the animal, the first thing that they noticed was that the place stank of urine and poop. The cage was really dirty and the wire was quite rusty. The poor animal was not having the time of his life there.
They were able to take the animal out of the crate and the hair on him was really in bad condition. All of his waste was also all over his body. They were sure that even if they tried to shave through the fur, it would not work quite well given his condition.
They rushed the animal to the nearest hospital for animals and a vet attended to him. The animal was sedated to make sure that he did not feel any pain when cleaning him up and removing his hair. The animal first weighed 9 pounds and upon removing his hair, he now only weighed 7 pounds. That was when they found out that he was a dog and they named him Murphy.
The dog spent an entire week at a shelter that PETA had and got the care and love that he didn’t receive for a long time. After that, he was then moved to Norfolk SPCA and soon enough, he got a loving family who accepted him and eventually adopted him. He now lives with them as a happy dog who was well-taken cared of.
