Orphaned Kittens Were Adopted By A Stray Dog That Lost Her Own Puppies

Orphaned Kittens Were Adopted By A Stray Dog That Lost Her Own Puppies

Dogs naturally know the right course of action and will not hesitate to take it should they need to do it. They have shown this many times already, just like the dog in this story.

Someone brought a pregnant stray dog to Sunshine Dog Rescue in Phoenix, Arizona, which is a non-profit organization. Georgia the dog was famished and did not appear to be in good health. Regrettably, she went into early labor and the shelter staff was compelled to perform an emergency Cesarean section.

Georgia was looking for her small puppies as she awoke after the procedure. Sadly, none of them survived, leaving Georgia disappointed and sad.

Anita Osa, the founder of Sunshine Dog Rescue, was at a loss on how to console Georgia. She had never encountered a dog that had lost her puppies previously. She needed to act quickly since Georgia was becoming so agitated that she tore up the mattress they had given her.

The woman posted on Facebook where she asked around for a litter of puppies in need of a surrogate mother due to Georgia’s lactation. She believed that doing this may provide comfort for Georgia. However, she was unable to locate any puppies, but someone responded with the information that a litter of four kittens required a mother.

Anita had witnessed how other species cared for one another, and she decided to give it a try. If things would not work out, she would have to care for the kittens herself.

She gradually introduced the kittens to the mother dog. She gave Georgia time to smell and adjust to each of them before placing them alongside her on the bed.

When the kittens began nursing, Anita noticed a shift in Georgia. She instantly became more at ease as her maternal instincts kicked in to feed and care for the babies. She did not really appear to be actually bothered by the fact that they were not pups.

Unfortunately, one of the kittens died, but the remaining three thrived under Georgia’s care. They had developed an affinity for one another since that first night. Georgia cared for them quite well as if they were her own.

Georgia and her kittens would be placed in a forever home by Sunshine Dog Rescue.
