There are still regions of the globe where dog meat is being consumed. This results in the annual slaughter and suffering of thousands of dogs. However, there are other organizations working to end the dog meat trade and rescue the dogs involved.
Pearl, a French Bulldog, was saved from a meat truck in China. Pearl and the other canines were en route to be slaughtered for food. Pearl had a life of misery, as did other dogs in this heinous trade. The majority of Pearl’s time is spent in a small, cramped cage. They are not taken on walks, and they are also without a family.
The primary purpose of the dogs in the dog meat trade is to be slaughtered and sold for their meat. Pearl was gravely ill when found by rescuers. Pearl had severe mange and was losing one of her front paws.
The veterinarian was not optimistic about Pearl’s survival after observing her. The veterinarians concluded that Pearl has only a few days to live based on her condition. Pearl, though, proved to be a warrior.
Despite her illness, Pearl recovered. Pearl started to recuperate after only a few days in the shelter. Volunteers and shelter employees were also responsible for ensuring Pearl’s well-being. She showed remarkable resilience and tenacity as a survivor.
Pearl’s health improved so much after just a few weeks in the shelter that she was ready to be flown into the United States. Pearl’s foster mother, Leah, reported that the puppy was calm when she picked her up from the airport.
Leah has three pets at her residence. She was concerned that her dogs may have a problem with Pearl’s presence. Pearl, though, quickly adapted and became friends with Leah’s pets. Pearl started playing with Leah’s dogs immediately.
During the adoption procedure for Pearl, Leah observed that she had mobility issues. Due to her missing paw, Pearl has difficulty moving about. Leah decided to seek assistance from Cheryl, a Road Dogs & Rescue volunteer.
Leah and Cheryl discovered Ashley’s adoption application while reviewing the submitted applications to adopt Pearl. Because Ashley is a veterinarian and can supply Pearl with what she requires, they felt good about her. The only issue was that Ashley lives in New York and Pearl is currently residing in California with Leah.
Cheryl and her husband thankfully decided to celebrate their wedding anniversary in California. During their travels, they chose to return rescue dogs to their permanent homes on the east coast. Pearl ranked first on the list.
Cheryl and her husband drove from California to Pennsylvania over the course of five days. Pearl spent a few days with the couple until Ashley arrived in Pennsylvania to take her to her forever home.
