When Beaux Tox was born, it was apparent that he would be living his whole life in hardship and suffering. He was bred to be sold, but because he was born with a facial deformity, the breeders knew that they would not be able to sell him.
Beaux Tox came from a big litter, and he was squished while he was still in his mom’s tummy. This lead to his face being pushed towards the center. His cranium sunk, and he has close-set eyes. But it did not affect his health or his intelligence, especially his personality.
Neglected
Although Beaux Tox was a happy and active dog, nobody really wanted him. Sadly, most of his siblings were sold off and he was given to a man who neither loved nor wanted him. The man loved his cats more and since Beaux Tox didn’t get along well with them, he was left chained in the backyard.
For five years, Beaux Tox, who was named Lucky then, stayed outside the house. He suffered through the harsh weather, and he didn’t even have his own bed.
Some local rescue groups tried to help. They took the dog with them, but because he didn’t have any training, or have known how to be with humans, he would be returned to the backyard over and over again.
New home
Luckily though, Jamie Hulit saw a photo of the dog on social media. And with just one look at the Yellow Lab, she knew he had to help. She went to Austin, Texas to pick up the dog, and she was shocked at what she found.
Beaux Tox’s rib cage was very visible, and his matted fur hung off his thin frame. The dog had an ear mite and flea infestation. At the clinic, they discovered that he had severe heartworms, which could kill him.
They immediately started nursing the unwanted dog back to health. In time, he grew stronger and stronger. Beaux Tox also became visibly happier and more active. He now lives inside a house, but still loves to go out occasionally. But more importantly, he has finally discovered how it is to be loved.
