Dogs are absolute blessings. Their presence in homes and in people’s lives brings forth pure joy and unconditional love. But lo, research revealed that not only do dogs provide 24/7 love and joy, they can also effectively make kids become successful adults!
For homes with no dogs at home, imagining having one during a pandemic can be very tricky. But you might just consider giving your child a puppy after reading this!
The finding involves two studies: the Harvard Grant Study, an 80-year-old study on what people need to be happy, and a University of Western Australia that analyzed data for three years of households with children aged 2 to 5.
The Harvard Grant Study revealed that people only need two things to lead a happy life: love and work ethic. Per the study, people with good relationships are happier and healthier. The 80-year-old study also revealed that kids that did chores and housework grew up as more successful and happy adults.
A study made by the University of Western Australia elaborated on the factors. Data showed that of the 1,646 households in the study, kids with a family dog do not have peer problems, conduct problems, and development difficulties. The research also revealed that kids with dogs also have good self-esteem, great empathy towards others, autonomy, and high levels of personal responsibility. Kids with dogs also have high prosocial behaviors found in successful and happy adults.
Scientists conclude that this is because having a dog essentially gives children a good foundation for love and work ethics. Love is nurtured in the good and tender relationship shared with the dog while work ethic is promoted when kids take part in taking care of the dog during walks and playtimes.
If you have a kid and you don’t have a dog yet, please consider having one already. Not only will it bring massive amounts of love and joy into your home, but it will also set a strong foothold on your child’s concept of loving relationships and work ethics! And who doesn’t want a happy and successful child, eh? With all the joy and love that dogs bring, it’s a marvel that having them at home secures kids’ happiness and success during adulthood as well! Ah, dogs are simply the best!
