A woman named Teresa Boeklem couldn’t take any more terrible news after a year of mourning. Not only did she suffer a miscarriage, but her father died of COVID, her mother died of cancer, and her aunt died not long after that. As a result, she panicked when she arrived home to discover her 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Chloe, unconscious.
Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Chloe had comforted her at every terrible moment. Boeklem had no idea what to do without her.
Boeklem rushed Chloe to the nearest emergency veterinary clinic, where the dog was diagnosed with an autoimmune blood condition. The medical bills totaled $2,255, which Boeklem could not pay. She couldn’t, however, afford to lose Chloe.
Unsure what to do, Boeklem addressed the situation on Facebook. Soon after, she received a message from a stranger, who promised to pay for all of her medical bills. Boeklem cried as she could not believe that some random person over the internet could be such of great help to her.
In addition, the stranger volunteered to pay for Chloe’s follow-up visits. The person has not spoken publicly, but social validation and recognition do not appear significant to them. They merely wanted to help a fellow dog lover.
During this trying moment, Boeklem said the stranger became like a mother to her. The person spent the entire night on the phone with Boeklem, telling her that everything would be fine. That person’s generosity had a significant influence on both Boeklem and Chloe.
Boeklem believes that the actions of this stranger saved Chloe’s life. Her friendship with Chloe had been so meaningful to her during her year of loss that she wasn’t ready to bid goodbye to the dog so soon. Thanks to the kindness of a stranger, Chloe has been given a second chance at life.
