Biscuit the Siberian Husky’s rescue story began when Amy Hines, an animal advocate and staff member of an award-winning nonprofit group for abandoned canines called Dogs Deserve Better, found him in 2016.
Biscuit was tied to a chain for most of his life, and he had no way to shield himself from the harsh elements. And Amy knew that she could give him a better life if she could rescue him as soon as possible.
Without further ado, Amy communicated with Biscuit’s owner and convinced them to let her take the husky, together with eight other dogs who live on the same property. Thankfully, she succeeded in her endeavor.
It also turns out that Amy did the right thing for the dogs – it was February, so winter is still around the corner. The dogs’ paws suffered from frostbite, and things could be worse if she delayed things any further.
In no time, Amy relocated the dogs, including Biscuit, to a shelter in Virginia. They need not worry about their food and shelter. For the first time in years, the dogs finally get what they truly deserve.
O February 26th, Dogs Deserve Better posted on their social media. It was a heartwarming update on Biscuit and the dogs. Apart from the rescue updates, they also shared that Biscuit and another dog named Benjamin made their ‘Freedom Runs’ in their 6 – acre field. Of course, they did it chain-free!
Moreover, Amy Hines successfully captured Biscuit’s incredible moment in a video. As his handler ushered him at the entrance, Biscuit immediately bolted and ran around the field!
It is hard to imagine that Biscuit couldn’t do this for years, but to see him run made up for all those years! Without any definite destination, Biscuit continued to run around, found a spot to pee in, and did a lot of exploring.
To top all of this, Dogs Deserve Better posted Biscuit for adoption, and it didn’t take too long before a loving family adopted him. Finally, Biscuit will have the freedom to run, eat, and love.
Indeed, dogs like Biscuit deserve better. Many thanks to the dedicated animal advocates like Amy, who tirelessly work to give abandoned and neglected dogs the life they truly deserve.
