Dogs love their toys! If you’re looking for new ones to add to your dog’s toy stash, you might want to consider not buying yet because we have something better to recommend. You don’t need to buy new ones because the materials you have at home are enough. What follows are two homemade dog toys that you can make from scratch. Have fun!
1. Water bottle fun
Dogs love the sound of water bottles when they crinkle! It drives them nuts! For this DIY, you just need two materials: an empty water bottle and an old shirt.
For the bottle, make sure that it’s empty and sealed with its cap. You also have to deform the bottle before sealing for optimum crunch and crinkle sounds. Next, wrap the bottle with an old shirt. We recommend one that you really used for it has your smell in it and it will make the playing all the more enjoyable for your dog. Wrapping it shouldn’t be complicated as you can enclose it by just doing a big knot. It’s so simple, you can make this one in under a minute. You can also use an old sock!
Your old unused spare PVC pipes are perfect dog toys! If you don’t have one, you can simply head to your nearest hardware store and buy one. Regardless of the cost, it will still be cheaper than an actual new dog toy that can get destroyed in just weeks. You will be amazed at how your PVC pipes are perfect puzzle toys! What to do:
1. Cut random holes around the pipe. The holes must be big enough to fit treats and kibbles but not so big that treats easily fall off.
2. Fill the pipe with treats and / or peanut butter. It’s best to first fill the holes with peanut butter so that the treats don’t fall out.
3. Put the end pieces.
4. Enjoy!
This is particularly fun for apart from the treats, your dogs will enjoy figuring the puzzle out. You will also enjoy seeing your dog’s mental prowess in figuring out the fastest way to finish the peanut butter and the kibbles! So, DIY away and enjoy!
