Blanca Anahi Cushman is a South Carolina resident whose post on Facebook about an abandoned dog quickly became viral. The small black pooch was found by her cousin, who was at that time coming out of a fitness club in West Columbia. When the cousin was at the parking lot, he noticed the dog tied to a pole.
Beside the dog were two small empty bowls, a duffel bag with his meager belongings, and a square piece of cardboard. A note written on the cardboard said that the pup’s name is Scooter, and he was being given away for free. The last sentence said that his owner was incarcerated that day.
Lost and found
Blanca’s cousin, who is her roommate as well, couldn’t leave the poor dog behind, so she set him free and brought them to their place. As they couldn’t adopt or foster the dog, they went online to ask for help. They went to various animal rescue pages and posted the pup’s photo.
The post went on to be shared numerous times and reached the attention of several animal rescue organizations. One of which is the South Eastern Homeless Animals. The nonprofit group’s founder, Paula Langford, reached out to Blanca, and they agreed that the abandoned pooch will be turned over to the rescue group.
Commitment
Paula and her team tried to find the dog’s previous owner. But there was not much information available for them. They are not sure if what the note was saying is true. Nevertheless, they have committed themselves to help the dog find a good home.
Scooter is now staying in the rescue group’s facility. Amazingly, the dog is in high spirits. He has been working well with his rescuers and has shown that he will be an incredible pet. Hopefully, it won’t take long to find him a new family.
