Special needs dogs are not usually the number one choice of people when they are looking for a dog to adopt. Because they are differently-abled, taking care of one can be really tough and requires a deep commitment to giving them everything they need.
Luckily, there are still kind hoomans out there who are determined to give these special needs dogs the life that they truly deserve. Like Sheena, who was looking for a differently-abled dog to adopt 10 years ago. Knowing that these doggos have the hardest time getting adopted, she knew that she wanted to help.
So when she was searching for different listings on a pet adoption website, Sheena saw a picture that caught her attention. It was Daisy, a dog who was born with dislocated joints on her front legs. She was first rescued by an animal control officer as a stray in South California.
Sheena watched the video that the rescue group provided and thought that Daisy was such a cute and happy dog who couldn’t stop wagging her tail. So she went to the adoption event and met Daisy in person. As soon as Sheena met her, she realized that the doggo had the cutest underbite which she didn’t notice in her photos.
She also felt that Daisy has a very loving and sweet personality. So Sheena went ahead and signed the adoption papers so she can finally bring the dog home. What the pupper probably didn’t realize at that moment was that her life was about to change thanks to her new hooman.
Because of the overwhelming support of her family, Daisy has learned how to walk using her wheelchair, prosthetic legs, and sometimes even without any aid. It gives her her small hops whenever she walks and runs to play with other doggos.
Sheena has seen Daisy’s growth from the day that she first adopted her. She has never been more proud of this doggo for always being so strong and positive about life despite being differently-abled. Without her even knowing, Daisy has given her hooman so much joy and inspiration that changed her life.
