We would all agree that every dog out there deserves a loving forever home. Unfortunately, many stray dogs that are saved end up being euthanized because they are not adopted. Numerous shelters across the nation are already overcrowded, and unadopted canines are frequently euthanized to make way for other dogs.
Two stray canines named Kala and Keira were rescued and housed at the Etowah Valley Humane Society. Because Kala and Keira are companion dogs, they must be adopted together. This made adoption even more difficult since there are not many people who want to adopt two dogs.
However, a photograph was taken of Kala and Keira huddled together as though pleading for rescue. Kala and Keira were at risk of being euthanized if they were not adopted or taken from the shelter. Thankfully, the photo became viral and was reposted numerous times on social media, which reached a woman named Cris Folchitto.
Cris was heartbroken after viewing the photo. Cris was aware that Kala and Keira have little time left. The woman, therefore, chose to foster both Kala and Keira to save their lives by removing them from the shelter. Because of Cris’s choice, Kala and Keira were given a second opportunity to be adopted and were given additional time to find a family willing to accept both of them.
Cris provided Kala and Keira with foster care for several months. During these months, the friendship between Kala and Keira became stronger. The two dogs did everything together and even shared a single bowl of food. Adopting them individually was clearly not an option because of their strong bond.
Pam and Wendy, two lifelong Georgia housemates and best friends, learned about Kala and Keira and then decided to adopt both dogs. Pam already had two senior pets who passed away, and hearing the story of Kala and Keira moved her deeply. When she learned that Kala and Keira were luckily still available for adoption, she applied to adopt the two canines immediately.
Finally, Kala and Keira found the home and family they deserved. They remain together and are thrilled to finally have a family.
