In September last year, animal control services picked up a dog named Abby off the street. She was thin and eating garbage to survive. Just by looking at her, animal control services knew they did not have enough resources to provide her with all the help she needed. Thus, they contacted an animal shelter, the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, for help.
Upon seeing Abby, her rescuers were shocked. She was in bad condition, and they found it difficult to believe she managed to survive in her state. The senior dog had skin and ear infections, a broken leg, and other ailments requiring urgent medical attention. Thus, Abby’s new friends immediately started her on the path to recovery.
According to Sarrah Walton, an employee of the shelter, they gave Abby her daily medications and shampoos for the dog’s ear and skin infections. She and the other workers and volunteers gave Abby lots of care and love.
Abby underwent treatments and even surgery; in the end, it all paid off. Now, the senior dog feels better than before she arrived at the shelter — she is also unrecognizable.
When Abby was first found and rescued, she almost didn’t even look like a dog. But now, she is a fluffy and spunky pooch loving her life. Her rescuers almost cannot believe how far the senior dog has come and could not be happier for her.
Walton said that Abby is doing great; the dog’s personality has shone through. She can be sassy and acts like the queen bee of the shelter’s little dogs. She also loves snuggling with the volunteers.
Abby has to undergo one more treatment. After that, the pooch is ready to look for a forever family. And her rescuers are excited for her to have her happy ending.
