Dogs from puppy mills usually only experience love and attention once they are bought and taken to their forever home. Because they are seen as profits, breeders want to have as many canines as they can sell. They don’t have the time or intent to show these adorable creatures affection.
What makes it worse is that some of these dogs don’t get bought. So this means they stay in cramped cages for years. Space is a valuable commodity, and because they are so many of them, each canine is allocated only so much real estate.
One dog named Teddy Bear endured these circumstances for seven years. When he was finally rescued from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania, he couldn’t even move his hind legs.
Wheels
Teddy Bear, previously called Prince Harry because of his curly fur, was quickly taken to an animal clinic. The vets found a slew of medical issues and gave the canine treatments. Diagnostic tests also showed that his back was paralyzed, probably due to the restriction of movements for an extended period causing his muscles to weaken.
After getting released from the clinic, Teddy Bear was taken in by an experienced foster volunteer named Michelle Weirich. She had been working with the nonprofit rescue organization that rescued the dog.
To help the pooch get mobility, they gave him a wheelchair. Teddy Bear eventually adapted to his new set of wheels and soon ran around. His personality also started to shine as he learned to trust his foster mom.
Homerun
The initial diagnosis of the vets showed that Teddy Bear had little to no chance of ever using his rear limbs again. But the combination of his medication and the use of his wheelchair significantly improved his development. Michelle soon noticed that the dog was trying to use his legs to stand up.
One day, Michelle took Teddy Bear to her yard, and before she could put her wheelchair on, the pooch started running on her own. The foster volunteer was pleasantly shocked and could see how happy the canine was.
Not soon after, a retired lady who had just lost his two dogs adopted Teddy Bear. His journey was nothing short of a miracle.
